What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas -- unless you're the mayor. Las Vegas mayor Oscar B. Goodman's candid quotes are a reporter's dream, his showgirl-accentuated press appearances are hotly chronicled and now his sexy photo session with a Playmate appears worldwide on Playboy.com. It's a crowning achievement for the former Mafia lawyer who once defended reputed hitman Tony "The Ant" Spilotro (immortalized by Joe Pesci in Casino) of racketeering charges, who is an official spokesperson for Bombay Sapphire Gin and who has his own reality TV show in the works.
The good-living Mayor Goodman -- who enjoys an unbelievable 86 percent approval rating -- made history as the first politician to moonlight as a Playboy.com Celebrity Guest Photographer when he stepped behind the camera to take topless pictures of a Playmate. The shoot took place in the luxurious Hugh Hefner suite atop the Palms Hotel & Casino. As has been reported worldwide, Playboy and the Palms are co-developing several new venues at the Vegas resort, and the mayor's shoot was a sure sign of the innovative and sexy things the two brands will be bringing to the intersection of Flamingo Road and Hugh Hefner Drive in Sin City.
Admittedly nervous, Mayor Goodman was punctual for his photo session, still powdered and primped from that morning's appearance on the Today show. "I went from a mob lawyer to the mayor of the greatest city in the world, but this could be the next step in my career," Goodman wisecracked, breaking the ice.
After a brief camera tutorial by renowned Playboy photographer Stephen Wayda, Mayor Goodman was introduced to his model, the stunning and statuesque Russia-born Playmate Irina Voronina. "I'm almost dressed!" Irina cooed from the wardrobe rack, clad only in her bra and panties.
"My heart!" quipped the mayor when he took her in. "I just want to say this is the first time I've been with a woman other than my wife in 42 years. So be careful, I have a very weak heart!"
